Crops

We start at the most basic element of farming to make the purest organic dairy products for you. The fertile soil that our crops grow in have been maintained naturally with sustainable farming methods and enriched with composed manure. We work really hard to maintain these natural standards so that our fields do not need to be sprayed with any man-made chemicals or herbicides.

Organic Dairy Products

Our Holstein dairy cows are 100% grass fed, antibiotic- and hormone-free. We believe that grass has benefits for our cows as well as their milk. The cows are put out to pasture from early Spring to late Fall. During the Winter, they are kept in a comfortable stall barn and are let out daily for exercise and fresh air. In these months, we feed them bales of hay from our chemical-free fields. Studies have proven the nutritional benefits of pastured cows. Data shows that these cows produce milk that is significantly higher in Omega-3, CLA, and Vitamin E. Studies have also shown that grass fed milk contains the ideal ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids.

Processing

At Hilhof Dairy, we bottle our own organic milk. We pasteurize the milk using a cream line. We offer our organic milk as Cream, Skim, 2%, or Whole Milk. We choose not to homogenize. Studies have found that when the cream is left in its natural state it is more digestible for the human body. When consumed, this milk remains in the digestive system longer to be broken down by the liver and stored as a high source of energy. The Hilhof Dairy organic milk is stored in reusable glass bottles that can be returned at your next purchase. We use glass bottles for the freshness and delicious taste it provides our customers.
